Jura Crest

In 2025 we will walk the Jura Crest trail, which runs approximately NE-SW along the Jura, to the north of Lakes  Neuchatel and Leman.  It starts near Zurich and finishes close to Geneva.  However, we will start further east at Fussen In Germany and follow the E4 to the start of the Jura Crest.

GR10

This year we will follow the GR10.  It is a traverse of the Pyrenees, from Hendaye on the Atlantic to Banyuls-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean.  Daily blogs will file here.

The official GR10 website has lots of useful information, including all the gpx track data.  It can be found here:

Accueil

We also bought the e-book version of Trekking the GR10 (Cicerone).  It’s generally good, though some of the links for accommodation take you to Chinese websites.  Some of the route descriptions are a bit garbled (especially if there is a variant on the day), and in one case the route described is now closed, and looked dangerous.

GR5 pages

The GR5 was my first long distance walk.  I originally planned to walk from Lake Geneva/Leman through the Alps to Nice.  Various blogs suggested it was a good idea to be fit before tackling the Alps, and that this could be achieved by starting on the North Sea coast at Hook of Holland.  As I had the time, I decided to do this.  Unfortunately, Christine was recovering from a broken foot, so I walked by myself.

The elevation profile may not be absolute, but each day is correct relatively.

Days will reappear as I rebuild my website.

Alpe Adria

The Alpe Adria is a fairly new trail that we will walk in September/October 2023.  I’ve spent a few days booking accommodation.  There has also been a visit to Cotswold Outdoor to buy new rucksack, boots, and various odds and ends.
